1) Bully, the much talked about documentary that chronicles the harsh realities of bullying in schools, opens today in New York and Los Angeles. New York residents can see the unrated film at AMC Lincoln Square and the Angelika and Los Angeles screenings will be at the Hollywood Arclight, the Landmark and AMC Century City. The film is expected to begin rolling out to more theatres starting next weekend. 4) The Lambda Literary Foundation has announced the nominees for the Lambda Literary Awards. The “Lammys,” now in their twenty-fourth year, celebrate LGBT writing in books published in the previous calendar year. This year’s 119 finalists were chosen from a record breaking number of nominations with more than 600 titles from about 250 publishers. Winners will be announced at the New York ceremony on June 4.

5) Let Your Light Shine, a documentary about religion-based LGBT prejudice, is looking for funding help on Kickstarter to continue filming and editing. The film probes the cross section of evangelical Christianity and the gay rights movement. LGBT alumni from Wheaton College, the “Harvard of Christian colleges,” are interviewed about their activism work as the group One Wheaton. The filmmakers further intend to interview prominent scholars of religious history and historians of the gay civil rights movement to learn how these stories intersect. Visit their Kickstarter page to donate and watch the trailer below.
